Statewide Interoperability Program Office

Better Emergency Communication for First Responders.

An interoperable system improves collaboration across jurisdictions and provides the citizens of New York with the high level of protection they deserve.

The Statewide Interoperability Program Office (SIPO) assists New York State and local first responders in developing an interoperable “public safety grade” communications environment to share critical information.

CIO/OFT remains committed to New York's first responder community to assist in a collaborative effort to advance and achieve the goals of interoperability and find solutions to the challenges that true interoperability presents. To accomplish this, CIO/OFT is providing New York State first responders with "proven" technology solutions, leveraging all Federal funding programs to supplement state/local resources to improve affordability, ensuring continuity through leadership by the SIPO and the Advisory Council, and providing accountability and performance through careful contract management.

INTEROPERABILITY ADVISORY COUNCIL:

Strategic oversight for the Statewide Interoperability Program is performed by the Statewide Interoperability Program Advisory Council. The Advisory Council was established in New York State Technology Law to assist in the development and implementation of an integrated statewide communications system linking state and local first responders. The 27 member council is comprised of state agency heads, state legislative representatives, representatives of first responder organizations and experts in the field of radio engineering.
