CIO/OFT is a New York State agency that provides statewide technology direction and centralized technology policies and services to other New York State government entities.
Our IT strategic goals support the priorities of Governor David A. Paterson's administration and are aligned with agency missions to enable better government services.
Our Focus is to:
- Maintain mission critical IT infrastructure and applications
- Identify and implement operational cost-efficiencies in government
- Promote enterprise-level IT planning within and across state agencies
- Build a talented IT workforce
- Provide affordable universal broadband access to all New Yorkers
- Implement a statewide interoperable public safety communications network

- Secure networking and desk top support for over 38,000 workstations on 1600 miles of fiber
- Voice and data telecommunications systems supporting 90,000 users and 10,000 teleconferences per year
- Centralized email system currently supporting over 50,000 users
- Customer Care Center providing help desk services to over 50,000 users at more than 1,500 sites statewide
- IT training services with over 6,000 e-learning licenses to 53 government groups
